Core Technologies
In order to accomplish the goal of providing the best online experience, we strive to constantly update our communities,
networks and sites with the latest technologies. The following is an overview of current and upcoming core systems:
- coreuser - Unified account and login system, allowing for one identity across all other systems.
- corenews - News aggregation, presentation and archive system. Keeps all newsitems in one database with
the advantage of presenting appropriate on-topic newsitems through multiple front-ends.
- corephoto - Uploading, conversion, sharing and formatting of images in photo album format.
- corevideo - Uploading, conversion, sharing and formatting of video clips in album format, universally playable
and distributable through multiple front-ends.
- coremail - Virtual E-Mail system with web interface, SMTP, POP3 and other advanced features such as custom
filters, forwarding, mobile notification and more.
- coretools - Searching and tagging of objects (videos, photos, and more), formatting for printing, bookmarks,
favorites, comments, ratings and miscellaneous services.
- corepoll - Multiple-question polling engine with results displayed in various output formats such as bar charts,
pie charts and tables.
- corelist - Geographically based directory engine and database capable of containing any type of location-oriented
entities such as restaurants, bars, hotels, night clubs, stores and venues.
- coreprofile - Profile system for social networking and community building, as well as service-oriented uses such
as resume- and job databases and matchmaking.
- coreweb - Creation, hosting and editing of user homepages.
- coremap - Map data and display, directions, routes and distance calculation system.
- coremobile - Mobile content delivery and applications, SMS, MMS, WAP and full-scale mobile web sites and systems.
- corebanner - Advertisement delivery and traffic accounting system allowing for targeted advertising campaigns and
custom ad integration using rich media and multimedia.

Each core consists of a server and a client, allowing for multiple clients implemented across several different front-ends,
incorporating any number of features that the core has to offer. For example, corep rofile contains functionality to limit
access to information about profiles unless the viewer is a registered user or a member of the website. This allows for the
creation of a job- and resume system with two target groups:
- Job Seekers - Free to create a profile, post a resume, maintain an updated listing and respond to offers.
- Employers - Free to browse profiles and resumes, but with a fee structure (membership) to access actual contact information.
In another scenario, the same core may be used to create a social networking website, completely free for all users and with
only one level of access. This front-end would not use the restriction features of the core, and instead of posting resumes and
countering with employment opportunities, the main functionality would consist of interacting with other cores, such as
core photo, core video and core mail to create a flourishing online community.

Structuring the networks, communities and sites in this fashion, utilizing cores, allows for rapid development, deployment and
expansion. A baseline experience only using a number of core features can be brought online while other, more advanced features are
being developed and tested, minimizing time-to-market and downtime for upgrades.
Each core is developed with its specific responsibilities in mind, removing the need for the client side of the core to know
about the inner workings in order to access the functions. With some exceptions, the cores are built as web services, which allows
the front-ends to use any number of contemporary technologies, on Windows®, UNIX, Linux and Apple Macintosh platforms. For
in-depth information, see the White papers.
